![]() ![]() The last two things I need are the chestbox, which I put in an order request to DroidWelder, and a helmet, which I contacted DarthHair about. He was super nice, the boots were here in two days and they looked brand new and fit great!! I wear a size 12 USA shoe and I ordered the XL Enlisted Jackboot Replica and they fit fairly well. The owner of East Meets West Militaria picked up the phone and when I asked about my order he said he was finishing up some other orders for the day when my email came across so he just filled it real quick. I thought there could be no way my order was processed in 5 minutes time so I decided to call. however, within a couple more minutes I got another email saying my boots were shipped. I placed my boots order one evening and sent my paypal payment and within a couple minutes got my automated order confirmation. I also ordered and received my jackboots from. I ordered and received my black gauntlets from, only $25, what a bargain. I also sanded down the compad, as requested by a Legion costume judge. I got my arm tools and put them in my shoulder pocket where they look good. Then I lightly brushed the edges of the gun with the minimal silver paint left on the paper.Ģ3 November 2013: I was worried about the length of my leg flare holder, but as it turns out, with the flight suit and boots the leg flare holder is just the right length. I crumpled up some paper and sprayed a little silver paint into a box and then dipped the crumpled paper in the silver paint and tried to get most of the paint off the paper. The gun looked nice and pretty all newly black and silver, but a real blaster would show some use. After the silver paint dried I taped over the silver parts and then painted the remainder of the gun black (also taping off the clear window on the scope so no paint would get on it). I also removed the dart holding rack that was mounted on the side of the gun. Although I liked having it shoot darts (what is more fun than that?), I sawed off the hoop on the back that is used to pump the gun, I filled in the hole that was left after removing the pump arm, and painted the front of the gun and the inset metallic silver. I have taken the Hasbro foam dart gun and modified it to be more screen accurate. I also spent some time working on the DL-17 Rebel Blaster. I like the way the pockets look much better now and I will also actually be able to use the pockets, to hold my Rand McNally Atlas of the Outer Rim. I also sewed on some black velcro to keep the pockets closed. I still had leftover material from the second flight suit so I was able to cut new, double-sided flaps with fusible interfacing to provide some solidity. The original flaps were somewhat flimsy so I made new ones. With the pinstriping and stickers the helmet really looked great!Ģ6 November 2013: After trying on my X-wing costume I discovered that I didn’t like the flaps for the leg and right arm pockets. Once the clear layer was removed the stickers look bright and beautiful. It took a bit of time, and some help from Hans, to figure out that there was a protective clear sticker over the real stickers that needed to be removed. The rest of the stickers I peeled and stuck to the helmet and then noticed that the stickers all had a clear layer that stuck out from the colored part and made the stickers look messy and amateurish. I figured it out fairly quickly and only ruined a couple yellow dots. Unfortunately, these stickers were just normal ones. All of the help information and videos for using the stickers showed that the stickers were water based and needed to be soaked before use, so I did that. After all the taping was done, I added the stickers that came with the helmet. I used the 1/8″ tape to mark off the edges between colors. I added the 1/4″ stripe to the mohawk center to offset the light blue stripe on the top. The helmet all taped up and ready for the dark blue color.Īfter painting the helmet up, I went to Autozone and Hobby Lobby and got some black 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch pinstriping.
